This in special year-end episode we look back at what happened during the year. Specifically, we look back at our predictions for the year and grade ourselves. Honestly, it’s shocking how well we do. Below is a reference for all the events we covered from 2016. It was a busy year!
It’s season 6! And we’ve got some amazing predictions for you. We start with “Tier 1” companies like Apple, Google, Facebook, Amazon & Microsoft. For each we talk about their products and other big tech related activities they’ll make. We think you’ll find it really helpful for thinking about how the year will shape up.
It’s time for our annual postdictions of 2015. James nails is and Matthew… We’ll… Let’s just say there’s room for improvement. We start off recapping the big stories of the year and then dive into how well we called things. Enjoy the show!
In the book Made To Stick, it talks about to get people to quickly understand and idea. One really easy way is to take something they already know and then tell them how it’s different. Thus the formula “It’s the [existing company] of [new market]” was born.
James makes all sorts of confessions this episode, but we’re not here to talk about that. Instead, we talk about Tomorrowland, the Apple TV, Automatic, Pebble, Ossur’s IMES, Caltech’s bionic arms, the Lime Equation, crowd sources timelapse videos, Apple Maps, Oculus, Google+ Photos, Medium eBooks, Hycopter and Aria.
There were lots of colors this week. White & Gold dresses. Red, White & Blue FCC decisions. 64 color watches and much more. It was good having Matthew back behind the microphone as we dove into this week’s top stories.
This week we talk about competitions happening in the tech space. For example, Twitter takes on group messaging, Snapchat takes on the media, Tumblr takes on simple design and Microsoft takes on Gmail through the iPhone.
