332: Good-Bye Furlo Bros, Hello Majordomo

James and Matthew

This is it: our last podcast episode. It’s time we stop talking about tech, and get in the game. We’re launching a new business called Majordomo that we hope other tech podcasts will talk about. As such, we feel it’s important to focus and see just how great a company we can make. But don’t worry, we cover lots of topic for our final show. Specifically, Facebook is in a death spiral, Black Panther is HUGE, Google bought Lytro, and Steve Jobs tells us all to have skin in the game.

Thanks for being an fantastic audience. We’ll see you out there.

Theranos CEO

The promise of a simple blood test that only required a few drops of blood, but would accurately give the result of hundreds of blood test was too good to pass up on. It allowed Theranos to raise hundreds of millions of dollars and achieve a valuation of billions of dollars. Only problem: their tech doesn’t exist and never did. Now that the SEC has gotten involved, we figured we’d finally give our opinion on the whole ordeal.

288: Samsung Isn’t Fooling Around With Their New Phone

It’s that time of year again, where the internet loses it’s mind and get’s all weird. That’s right, it’s April Fools. SpaceX launched and landed a rocket that they had already launched and landed. Twitter made some changes that got everybody in tweeting fervor. Samsung announced the explosive sequel to their exploding phones. Congress sold our privacy to the highest bidder (kinda, but not really) and Apple rearranged all your files while you slept (don’t worry, they’re right where you left them)

Zeitgeist the AppEverybody’s talking about Pokemon Go, so we decided to add to the conversation this week as well. Catching Pokemon With Lethal Force

James and I couldn’t help but get into Pokemon Go this week with everyone else while we discuss the game, the community and the companies involved. Things got serious as we discussed the death of a shooting suspect in Dallas and the drone that killed him. We talked about the worlds most famous router (more interesting than it sounds) and a $4 dollar smartphone that might start a revolution. There was a weekly VR update brought to us by the Warriors and a First-Person drone race that looks like a ton of fun. We also talked Twitter, 5G cell service, Google’s iPhone app and wrap it up with some cathartic Snapchat bashing.

Eating A Burger While Not Driving

We started things out mourning the loss of a great piece of Facebook tech. We then looked toward the future, and how to educate it. Things nearly careened out of control for a little while, but we avoided an accident. We wrapped it all up with a nutritious machined made burger. We also mentioned HTC spinning off their VR department, Spotify getting testy with Apple and Google increasing the bandwidth to Japan.
